What time should I be on campus Sunday to run?

If you are participating in one of the race events on Sunday, we suggest you arrive by 6:30 a.m.

Can someone else pick up my packet/bib?

Yes, you can have someone else pick up your packet.

Is the Kalamazoo Marathon a Boston qualifier

Yes.

What is your policy on refunds, transfers and deferrals?

We have a strict no-refund, no transfer and no-deferral policy. Your number cannot be worn by another runner.
Our strict no-refund, no-transfer and no-deferral policy has been modified this year to include
a discount on next year’s race if, after signing up, you tell us by April 15 you cannot compete
in this year’s event.  Email clpickett@gmail.com by April 15 and she will send you a one-time
discount code for the 2018 race of your choice.

Your code will entitle you to a discount in any Borgess race in 2018, and you also are entitled to
pick up your shirt for this year’s race at the Expo at Wings Event Center on May 6.  The size of the
discount will be based on which race your registered for in 2017.  Those discount amounts:

Marathon – $20
Half Marathon – $15
10K Race – $10
5K Race – $5
5K Walk – $5

After you email Cheryl, she will send you the one-time discount.

Can I change races?

You may switch races by contacting us in advance (bobbiel@lamcreative.com) or making the arrangements in person at the Expo on Saturday.

If you are switching to a race with a higher fee, we will collect the additional fee. If you are switching to a less expensive race we are unable to refund the difference.

Can I bring my dog?

We have a strict NO DOGS policy. This applies to runners, walkers, and spectators on campus the day of the race.

How long is the course open?

Our course is “officially” open for 6 hours and 30 minutes from the start of the Marathon. Runners who finish after 6 hours and 30 minutes will not be officially timed, and will not have the on-course support from aid stations and public safety. Therefore we discourage people from remaining on the course beyond 6 hours.

How do the shuttles work, and what’s the schedule?

Can I run with my child in the Kids Fun Run?

Yes, you may run with your child in the Kids Fun Run.

Can I push a stroller in any of the events?

Strollers are permitted in the Kids Fun Run and the 5K Walk only. We ask that people with strollers line up at the back of the pack.

Where’s the best place to park?

What roads will be closed during the race?

Please see our Traffic Info page for details about road closures and detours due to the race. If you have a specific question about getting somewhere, you can contact the Race Director for more information: info@borgessrun.com

How is the race timed?

We use Classic Race Management for our timing. You will be provided with a chip (either on your shoe or in your bib) which will trigger your start time when you pass through the  start line, and will record your end time when you cross the finish line.

Can I give someone else my bib?

NO! You can not transfer your bib to someone else. This will skew finishing rankings and is unfair to all runners.

Can I register the day of the race?

There is no day-of registration for any of the Sunday events. Your last opportunity to register is in person at the Expo on Saturday.

Are there race pacers?

There are race pacers from 3:15 hours to 5:30 for the marathon, at 15-minute increments, and 1:30 to 2:45 for the half marathon, at 15-minute increments.

Are there energy gels and replacement drinks on the course?

We have Gu gel packets at three locations on the marathon course and one station on the half marathon course. Gu Brew will be at every other aid station, and water will be at every aid station.

I don’t want to register on-line, how can I register?

Email bobbiel@lamcreative.com or call 877-255-2447 (345-1913 in Kalamazoo) to request a paper application. There is a $5 processing fee for paper applications.
